Why I work at WARDS LAWYERS PC

It’s important to me that I am able to grow professionally in my career. I learn something new at WARDS LAWYERS PC everyday. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by knowledgeable lawyers and staff who are always willing to teach me new things or challenge me. I’m able to take on new tasks and roles within the Firm, knowing I have full support, if needed.

Memorable Moment

My most recent memorable moment was just before the Christmas holidays in 2019. I was called into meet with Melissa, where I was offered a permanent position with the WARDS LAWYERS PC. I had been hired as a temporary clerk to cover a maternity leave and worked as hard as I could to prove myself and my abilities since I knew that this was where I wanted to be long-term. When I was offered a permanent position, I felt like all of my hard work was noticed and had paid off. I couldn’t have been happier and that was the best Christmas gift I received that year!

Community Involvement

  • Volunteer with the Fenelon Falls Special Events Committee

  • WARDS LAWYERS PC Kids' Road Hockey Tournament supporting kids’ mental health
  • Former volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters - CKL (while continuing my relationship with my "little sister" outside of the organization)

  • Actively seeking more ways to become involved in the community

Notables

  • Graduating from Durham College’s Paralegal Diploma Program

  • Attended the University of Guelph where I studied psychology for two years

  • Travelling to Costa Rica on an excursion of a lifetime

  • Building a future with Kurtis, my partner of 8 years

  • Taking a road trip to Nova Scotia with Kurtis to watch him play baseball

  • Spending time with my family at the cottage and experiencing views on the lake from my paddleboard

  • Meeting my "little sister" through Big Brothers Big Sisters, who has become a part of my family
